A contemporary design with traditional elements situated on a long and narrow site between existing stone walls. Including a mono-pitch roof oriented south to make maximum use of the sun light for interior natural light through roof windows, mounting of PV panels and solar water heaters. Garden amenity space is provided at both ends of the house.

A contemporary dwelling to be built over two storeys with the living accommodation on the first floor enjoying fine Atlantic views over the north coast. The Ground floor is hidden behind the retaining wall forming the hillside site. Planning Approval was won on appeal after being refused by Penwith District Council. Interestingly the Planning Inspector remarked that it would be a compliment to the area.

A commercial project consisting of offices and vehicle workshops designed to meet BREEAM environmental standards. Following an 18 month construction phase the building was occupied in November 2011 and subsequently awarded 'BREEAM Excellent' certification in January 2012. (See certificate ->)

39 Dwellings, Hilgrove Road, Newquay

A proposed development of 39 contemporary dwellings on a 'brown field site' once occupied by a vehicle garaging and maintenance business. The site has a number of challenging aspects including a mineshaft and many derelict buildings. After a 6 year battle with Restormel Borough Council (now part of Cornwall Council), including internecine battles between their Planning and Housing Departments,

Planning Approval was finally received after a successful appeal in late 2013. The Council Planning Committee having originally refused the application against the advice of their officers.

50% funded with european money, the project was won in an open design competition sponsored by the then Chief Executive of Carrick District Council, Mr P M Talbot. Having originally been expected to be built over 18 months, this was extended to 2 years when the original contractor, ISIS Construction failed. The project was then taken to completion by Keir Western Ltd

Ships & Castles Leisure Centre

Completed Summer 1983

12 flats built especially for elderly people. The project won a "Cornish Buildings Group" Commendation in 1984 and in the citation the group stated, "it is hoped that the owners remain faithful to the colours". Sadly this has not happened and 'Carrick Housing' (now Cornwall Housing) have ignored this wish and painted all beige! This has killed the impact of the design completely.
